Upcoming Activity

News: March 23, 2021

I'm excited to announce three upcoming online concerts featuring my work:

Thursday, March 25, noon EST:  Wilfrid Laurier University 'Music at Noon'

This concert is devoted to two works of mine for two pianos and two percussion: Three Shades of Blue (2004) and Blunt Music (1986) and features pianists Elaine Lau and Joseph Ferretti with percussionists Richard Burrows and Dave Klassen.

Saturday March 27, 8pm EST: 'NUMUS Turns 35: The Music of Peter Hatch'

This 90 minute retrospective concert includes the world premiere of 'Black Water Elegy', a work I created in collaboration with visual artist Matthew Talbot-Kelly and cellist Morgan Lovell. Also included is the world premiere of three 'instrumental theatre' pieces in video form featuring performances by Guy Few, Richard Burrows and Andrew Laughton, as well as the two piano/percussion pieces listed above.

Saturday April 7, 8pm EST: 'Array Presents III: Retrospectives – Joseph Petric'.

This concert by concert accordionist Joseph Petric includes a 're-premiere' of my 1987 work 'Pneuma' for accordion and electronic sound. Originally written as an interactive piece with Yamaha's ground-breaking CX5M computer music instrument, this version recreates the same material reworked using the Max/MSP programming language.

I'm hoping everyone is finding a way to stay healthy and happy in these strange times.
